Why oh why did I do it?
I already regret installing Apple's betas, but I'd do it again!
I’m on day two of running Apple betas on most of my primary devices, and I already deeply regret it.
Slack won’t work, apps keep crashing, messages are coming through at weird times, and I’m locked out of my own website!
I’m extremely stressed out and googling how to roll everything back. How could I be so dumb?
But heck, it’s worth it!
I’m loving Liquid Glass, which looks even better on Mac than iOS, and my iPad’s Lock Screen has never looked better.
But it’s high time for me to file some bug reports with Apple’s development team. Especially concerning Slack, the communications app where I spend most of my time working.
Now is the best time to file bug reports, as we explain in one of today’s posts, which also details exactly how to go about it. Don’t worry, it’s pretty easy.
Also, don’t miss the funny X post below about what we’ve learned about Apple’s betas.
Also in today’s newsletter:
I keep reading the name of this new Wobkey mechanical keyboard as “Wobbly Keys,” which is kinda unfortunate. Nonetheless, I learned a lot about keyboards from our informative hands-on review. And although I’m basically a one-finger, hunt-and-peck typist, I want a Wobkey now. (Oddly, I can more or less touch-type on keyboards like this one with longer travel. Why? 🤷)
Bose’s mini speakers contain some magic music genie that makes them sound phenomenal. I’m always impressed when I hear one in the wild, so I’m really curious about these ANC buds, which we have on a refurb sale.
You can watch videos on CarPlay screens with iOS 26, and Apple cleverly figured out how to make sure the feature’s not abused while driving.
Cult of Mac writer Ed Hardy, who oddly is an aficionado of external drives, likes the look of this versatile new thumb-size external SSD.
If you’re a gym bunny, here’s how to connect your Apple Watch to Planet Fitness treadmills. Note: It’s basically the same technique for other gyms and exercise equipment.
I hardly ever play video games, but I harbor the fantasy that a controller like Backbone’s will make me want to. Maybe I should pick one up at a juicy 30% off.
Today is the day in Apple history that Steve Jobs delivered one of the best commencement speeches ever, with three beautifully crafted lessons drawn from his own life. And now there’s new HD video of it, too.

iOS 26 add Phone Haptics. Now when you call someone and they pick up, you will feel haptic feedback to alert you.
Also you will feel haptics when a call ends

Things I’ve learned since iOS 26 was released:
- Everyone on Twitter is a designer
- Android users are concerned for iOS users
- Steve Jobs never created a bad design
- People wanting a redesign, actually didn’t
- 100% trust the leaks
- Beta means shipped

I love the new iPadOS 26 Lock Screen with larger time fonts. I know it’s just a visual for time, but man.. Is it me or does it just make it look more epic? 😮💨

One more thing ...
I'm brutally honest, because the price of admission to being in the room with me is I get to tell you you’re full of shit if you're full of shit, and you get to say to me I'm full of shit, and we have some rip-roaring fights. And that keeps the B players, the bozos, from larding the organization, only the A players survive. And the people who do survive, say, “Yeah, he was rough.” They say things even worse than “He cut in line in front of me,” but they say, “This was the greatest ride I've ever had, and I would not give it up for anything.”
