Should you upgrade your iPhone or Apple Watch?
You might want to sit it out this year ... or not!
Should you get the new Apple Watch Ultra? Probably not if you have one already, but what about the new iPhones?
It’s tempting to automatically upgrade whenever Apple comes out with something new. But obviously, that can become very expensive — actually, very, very expensive.
So we’ve made some handy charts to help you decide.
Also in today’s newsletter:
Red Alert 🚨🚨🚨. If you are getting the new Ultra and want it ASAP, avoid these bands that are delaying shipping.
If you are buying new gear, think about trading in your old devices. Cult of Mac’s buyback program offers some of the best prices out there.
Some folks are complaining online that the new A17 Pro chip is weak sauce, but benchmarks show it’s a screamer.
Apple’s old EarPods don’t get much love in the AirPods era, but here’s why you might want to check out the wired earbuds.

One more thing ...
A word that’s sometimes used to describe me is ‘mercurial.’ Of or relating to, or born under the planet Mercury. I think the third one is the one they mean: ‘Characterized by unpredictable changeableness of mood.’ If we scroll down the thesaurus, though, we see that the antonym is ‘saturnine.’ Well what’s that? By simply double-clicking on it, we immediately look that up in the dictionary, and here it is: ‘Cold and steady in moods. Slow to act or change. Of a gloomy or surly disposition.’ Well I don’t think ‘mercurial’ is so bad after all.
