Surprise! Apple is 2022’s ‘biggest stock-market loser.’
If you've been following the news this past week, it might seem that Tesla would take the crown for the biggest stock market loser of 2022.
The sliding stock has taken a 65.4% battering -- generating all kinds of headlines and frenzied tweets.
Mark Zuckerberg's Meta has been beaten up, too, and Amazon's stock has declined nearly 50%. In fact, the whole tech sector has taken a shellacking.
But none of them can hold a candle to Apple, whose market capitalization has declined the most of all the companies on the stock exchange.
Say what? Didn't Apple enjoy profitable, sometimes record-breaking quarters all year?
It did, but the stock still slid, earning Apple the title of 2022's biggest stock-market loser. Color me shocked!
-- Leander Kahney, EIC.
It’s no secret 2022 has been a volatile year for tech stocks, even as Apple has stayed locked in its familiar role of stock market juggernaut, always beating earnings expectations somehow. So you might be surprised to hear that Apple is this year’s biggest stock-market loser.
Apple is expected to be among the first companies to benefit from TSMC's cutting-edge chips, which will be faster while requiring less power.

Years ago I was a regular Mac user who switched to PC for a long time. When I fully reimmersed myself in the Apple ecosystem, an old annoyance came right back — all those unwanted apps launching for no apparent reason on startup, slowing things down. Like many folks, I don’t restart my Mac very often these days because Sleep mode has its benefits. So having to close a bunch of apps is not a massive annoyance. But for anyone who wants a fix, there are easy ways to disable startup items. And if those don’t work, you can try a couple of tricks to get rid of hidden launch agents.
Apple plans a modest increase the screen sizes in the next generation of iPad Pro models, according to a reliable source. Numerous earlier leaks indicted these will also be the first Apple tablets with OLED displays.
On December 30, 1999, Microsoft reached the peak of its 1990s dominance before beginning its early 2000s decline. It was a major turning point.
If you want a healthy computer setup, don’t just check off the “ergonomics” box and leave it at that. In addition to good posture, straight wrists and so on, you’re going to need good lighting to reduce eye strain. And to look good on video, too, of course. Today’s featured M1 Mac mini setup throws the switch on a couple of lighting products we rarely see.

One more thing ...
"Recruiting is hard. It's just finding the needles in the haystack. We do it ourselves and we spend a lot of time at it. I've participated in the hiring of maybe 5,000-plus people in my life. So I take it very seriously. You can't know enough in a one-hour interview. So, in the end, it's ultimately based on your gut. How do I feel about this person? What are they like when they're challenged? Why are they here? I ask everybody that: 'Why are you here?' The answers themselves are not what you're looking for. It's the meta-data." -- Steve Jobs, 2008.
