Thanks to iPadOS 26, you can open as many app windows as you like and spread them out across your iPad’s screen — just like on the Mac.
However, this can be a recipe for chaos on the iPad’s smaller screen.
That’s why Apple is making welcome improvements to Split View, the system for dividing the iPad’s screen between just two apps.
For years, Split View was the answer to multitasking on the iPad. But Apple nerfed it in iPadOS 26, choosing to put more emphasis on the more flexible (but potentially confusing) Windowed Apps, which make the iPad much more Mac-like.
In iPadOS 26.2 — the next major update that’s due to be made public any day now — Split View is better than ever.
You can again quickly split your iPad’s screen between just two apps. And for a lot of iPad users, it’s the ideal way to work.
If you work on an iPad, bone up now on this important productivity system before Apple releases iPadOS 26.2.

Sales of iPhones always slow down in the third quarter because everyone and their dog knows that new models are coming in the fourth quarter — but not this time!
Setapp has steadily grown into a pretty great app subscription service. For a reasonable price, you get to use a bunch of great apps for less than it’d cost to subscribe or buy individually — kinda like Netflix for Mac and iOS apps. Now there’s a new suite with AI-infused tools, and it’s on sale for a very reasonable price.
I like Marques Brownlee, the king of the tech YouTubers. Every year, Brownlee crowns his best smartphone of the year. This time around, his choice is a bit of a surprise.
Before Apple opened up a retail store in New York’s beautiful Grand Central Station, everyone was skeptical. It sounded like pure fantasy, but it turned into one of Apple’s busiest and most distinctive retail locations.
Neil Cybart, an independent Apple analyst, has been very skeptical of all the recent stories about Apple executive departures. He’s wondering if it’s a clever way for rivals, like OpenAI or Meta, to poach talent. See his X post below.
