So you're sick of Safari ...
It's easy to change your iPhone's default web browser if you so desire.
I resisted using Safari on my iPhone for a long time, mostly because some of the tools we use to produce Cult of Mac and The CultCast only work with Chrome. (Such is the state of web publishing and podcasting.)
I also preferred Chrome to Safari. It just seemed better all around.
However, I’ve changed my tune after trying out Safari features such as Reader mode and the recently added Hide Distracting Items. (Want to see all the cool features Apple added to Safari in iOS 18? We’ve got a roundup for that.)
All that stuff means I don’t need today’s updated how-to, which shows you how to switch your iPhone’s default web browser from Safari to a third-party alternative.
But maybe you do need this info. It turns out there are some good reasons why you might want to ditch Safari (syncing with Windows/Android, getting a more customizable user interface, or even beefing up security or privacy beyond Apple’s already high bar).
Find out how easy it is to switch your iPhone’s default browser in today’s updated how-to (or our video walkthrough).

Delays, delays! Something apparently went sideways with that AirPods Max update that will allow lossless audio via USB-C. At least watchOS 11.4 finally arrived.
How much further behind can Apple fall in the smart glasses game? Meta plans to launch an upgraded model this year with a built-in display.
If you like some action with your archeology, you might dig Fountain of Youth, an upcoming Apple TV+ movie that gives off a serious Indiana Jones wannabe vibe. Watch the first Fountain of Youth trailer for a taste (and don’t miss the musical quote at the end).
A new sale drops the latest iPad to its lowest price yet. But if keyboards, mice and other peripherals are more your thing, don’t miss Logitech’s big sale. The company makes some of the finest Apple accessories around — and they’re even better with big discounts.

A message from Ryse
This smart home company grew 200%…
No, it’s not Ring or Nest—it’s RYSE, a leader in smart shade automation, and you can invest for just $1.90 per share.
RYSE’s innovative SmartShades have already transformed how people control their window coverings, bringing automation to homes without the need for expensive replacements.
This year alone, RYSE has seen revenue grow by 200% year over year and expanded into 127 Best Buy stores, with international markets on the horizon. Plus, with partnerships with major retailers like Home Depot and Lowe’s already in the works, they’re just getting started.
Now is your chance to invest in the company disrupting home automation—before they hit their next phase of explosive growth. But don’t wait; this opportunity won’t last long.

“Apple Intelligence requires that iPhone and Siri are set to the same language. Currently, your iPhone is set to English (Lithuania) and Siri is set to English (United States).” Theres no such thing as Lithuanian English Apple, god damn it.

One more thing ...
Buckle up. Got something totally new for you now. What is this? It's a totally new application. It's called Safari, and it is a turbo browser for Mac OS X. We have done our own browser, and it's hot.
