Secretive, ex-Apple startup aims to kill iPhone
Imran Chaudhri is a soft-spoken Brit who helped develop the first iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
He was an interface superstar at Apple, key to developing many of the technologies that are pervasive today.
Chaudhri has a new startup called Humane that aims to kill the iPhone.
The secretive company has quietly amassed more than 60 ex-Apple staffers -- and funding from blue-chip VC firms.
Humane hasn't made any official announcements, but patents show it's working on a wearable device that ditches a screen in favor of a laser-projection system.
Powered by AI, the wearable can detect objects, people and places in the real world. It uses lasers to project information onto surfaces (like your hand) that can be interacted with.
Curiously, it's nothing like the AR/VR headsets Silicon Valley is hoping will supersede smartphones.
It sounds completely original and intriguing.

The people that invented the iPhone are trying to invent what comes after the iPhone, and it sounds bonkers. A secretive San Francisco startup called Humane appears to be developing a wearable, screenless device that uses low-powered lasers to project information out into the wearer’s environment. And there’s not an AR/VR headset in sight.
Cupertino unveiled a major new sports deal Tuesday, saying Apple TV will be the exclusive streaming destination for all MLS games for a decade, starting with the 2023 season.
Craig Federighi, SVP of Apple’s software development efforts, offers more insight into Stage Manager's limitations and what to expect from the finished version.
Friday's the day for the MBP, but there is no word yet on an exact date when the redesigned MacBook Air with M2 will go up for preorder.
The SwitchEasy MagPower 4-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charging Stand can wirelessly power up a MagSafe iPhone while also juicing up an Apple Watch, AirPods and more. And it even has a nightlight as a bonus. Speaking of bonuses, the product is currently on sale for 20% off.
Aside from its larger size, the tablet's display might not include top-tier features offered by other iPad Pro models, like a very fast refresh rate.
The Bundeskartellamt doesn’t object to the iPhone-maker blocking trackers. But the agency points out that Apple's App Tracking Transparency features don’t interfere with the company's own advertising system.
From a shopping app to simplify your life to an excellent replacement to Apple’s infuriating TV app, we’ve got some awesome apps for you.

One more thing ...
