Samsung copies Safari 15’s only decent change

Steve Jobs famously said good artists copy, but great artists steal ... a quote he stole from Picasso.

Apple's done its fair share of stealing over the years, of course, but it's fair to say other companies steal more from Apple than Apple steals from others.

And perhaps no company steals more from Apple than its old archival Samsung (with the exception of Xiaomi).

Samsung's latest pilferage is the new Safari browser's one popular feature: putting the URL address bar at the bottom of the screen.

It's a good idea, and it's obvious why Samsung stole it. The address bar at the bottom is where it should be -- once you get used to it.

And here's the funny part: Apple probably stole the bottom address bar itself from Google's Chrome, which experimented with it in the past.

There’s not much Apple’s rivals would want to steal from Safari 15 — it’s not exactly the company’s finest (or most popular) browser update. But in true Samsung style, the South Korean firm found one thing worth copying for its own mobile devices.

In a knock-down, drag-out fight between an Apple Magic Keyboard and one of its most popular alternatives, the Logitech MX Keys wireless keyboard, which would win? "Recruiting is hard. It's just finding the needles in the haystack. We do it ourselves and we spend a lot of time at it. I've participated in the hiring of maybe 5,000-plus people in my life. So I take it very seriously. You can't know enough in a one-hour interview. So, in the end, it's ultimately based on your gut. How do I feel about this person? What are they like when they're challenged? Why are they here? I ask everybody that: 'Why are you here?' The answers themselves are not what you're looking for. It's the meta-data." -- Steve Jobs
