Preorders open for first M2 MacBook Pro

Preorders for the brand-new 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 chip just opened, but the M2 MacBook Air is still AWOL.

Apple said both machines would be available in July, but didn't specify the dates.

With the MacBook Pro available as of today, Apple only has two weeks left in the month to keep its promise about the new Air.

The M2 MacBook Pro looks like a speed demon, with a 20% CPU speed boost over the previous-generation M1 machine, which was already a screamer.

The M2 MacBook Air also promises to be no slouch, and it should go on sale soon, if Apple sticks to its promised timetable.

It looks like a great machine, and we can't wait to see it.

Preorders for the updated 13-inch MacBook Pro -- the first laptop to run on the powerful new Apple M2 processor -- began Friday morning. However, there is no word yet on an exact date when the redesigned MacBook Air with M2 will go up for preorder. All Apple has said so far is that it will launch in July.

Stage Manager aims to improve the multitasking experience on iPads by adding floating, resizable app windows and other features that make the tablets more like Macs. However, Apple’s decision to keep the feature exclusive to iPads with M1 chips has caused quite a bit of controversy.
