This Ph.D.'s workstation is pretty smart

I love a good setups post, and today's is a fine one.

Not because it features a bunch of super-high-end, unaffordable gear -- but the opposite.

It's a relatively humble collection of stuff, but well put together to make a calm and productive workspace.

A computer setup run by a doctoral degree candidate had better be damned smart, and today’s featured setup doesn’t disappoint. It’s got a powerful M1 MacBook Pro, a recent (but not the latest) iPad Air, a very slick 4K display and a trio of whipsmart input devices boasting plenty of customization options. It’s got all that and pretty clever cable management, too.

Alongside iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2 and macOS Ventura 13.1, Apple also dropped watchOS 9.2 for all compatible Apple Watch models. Besides packing several new features, the update improves the Apple Watch Ultra’s battery life.

Cupertino reportedly launched a major project to allow third-party app stores by 2024. The effort is meant to comply with the European Union’s Digital Markets Act.

Apple already began beta tests for the next versions of iOS, macOS, iPadOS and watchOS. These were seeded to developers Wednesday, just a day after the public release of their predecessors.
