New hope for iPads
Apple might be about to finally fix iPadOS.
For years, I’ve tried to use an iPad as my main machine.
The advantages are numerous: excellent portability, long battery life, a great touchscreen interface and somewhat cheaper hardware.
But I’m usually stymied by some stupid minor tool incompatibility. Some features of the Cult of Mac website backend, for example, don’t play well with the mobile browsers available for iPad.
I’m sure there’s a workaround, but like any good sufferer of Stockholm syndrome, I blame myself.
Because when push comes to shove, and I’m under a deadline or have to get something done in a hurry, it’s just so much easier to revert to my old computer-based workflow.
I’m hardly alone in this complaint. For many, many years, Apple users have complained that the iPad hardware is magnificent, but the software lets it down.
That finally may be about to change. Yeah, I know, we say that every year! But this time’s different! Honestly!
Next month at WWDC, Apple will release iPadOS 19, and it’s rumored to have a lot of great tweaks that blur the lines between iPad and MacBook. Here’s our wish list of what we hope to see. No. 3 might surprise you!

As the author of several books, this book-writing AI fills me with horror. It’s on sale though LOL! I guess I’ll be needing this AI-powered job finder pretty soon (also on sale!)
Our resident headphones expert, David Snow, is a big fan of budget audio brand Soundcore, which consistently delivers great audio products for a lot less than competitors. Dave just took Soundcore’s new Liberty 5 earbuds for a spin, and finds they’re comparable to Apple’s AirPods Pro — but for half the price.
Most respondents to yesterday's poll about monitors said they used just one. But a bunch said it was a 49-inch ultrawide! Does that really count? I didn’t know those monsters were so popular. See below.

Finder finally speaks human.
Substage drops a command bar into every Mac window. type “zip these” or “convert to 1080p MP4,” hit return, done. No Terminal. No endless menu clicks.

One more thing ...
If something isn’t right, you can’t just ignore it and say you’ll fix it later. That’s what other companies do.
