How to make Apple Passwords a standalone app

This handy shortcut is great for two-factor authentication.

My bank sent me an RSA dongle that generates an authentication code when I try to do anything sensitive, like sending money.

Little did I know that Apple Passwords can generate two-factor authentication codes for me, and much more besides.

There was a big discussion in the Apple community last week about Apple Passwords and its many hidden features, including calling on Apple to make Passwords a standalone app.

We have a workaround. By adding a shortcut to your iPhone’s Home Screen, Apple Passwords can act like its own app, giving you access to 2FA access codes and more. Check the top post to find out how.

Stick an AirTag anywhere

No not there! But Elago’s AirTag Silicon Pad features a reusable adhesive that allows it to be stuck to almost any flat surface. To reuse the pad, simply wash it in water and install it again. There’s no residue upon removal. You can get a two-pack in one of three color options — including one that glows in the dark — from the Cult of Mac Store. It’s just $12.99 for two.
