My wife recently became a minimalist — an extreme one!
After 30 years and four kids, our small house was stuffed to the gills with possessions.
Sick of the clutter, my wife started bingeing videos about decluttering on YouTube.
First, she chucked out or donated a lot of her stuff, then she badgered me to get rid of mine.
At first, I was very resistant. I might need those old suits that I can no longer fit into. You never know, I might lose weight!
And all those precious bike parts. They might come in handy one day!
But after she transformed our kitchen, getting rid of every duplicate utensil and pan, and stashing all the appliances in cupboards, I finally got it.
The absence of clutter is very calming. Everything has a place, and it’s way easier to clean up. Plus, we can finally open the drawers without them catching on all the utensils that were previously jammed inside.
I didn’t realize this at first, but having fewer possessions is very liberating.
It’s strange how objects take up space in your life and your mind.
But when you get rid of them, you don’t have to think about them anymore. It’s a fallacy that they might come in handy one day. If you haven’t used something in the last six months, the chances are you never will. Get rid of it!
The funny thing is, once it’s gone, you never think about it again! It’s very freeing.
In that vein, here are the best minimalist Mac setups we’ve seen. Just looking at them makes you feel calm and Zen — especially if you’re listening to an ASMR video.
I really like No. 3. I’ve never seen a setup like it.

One more thing ...
There's no risk. That's why you need to do it young. That's why we started Apple. We said, you know, we have absolutely nothing to lose. I was 20 years old at the time, Woz was 24 or 25. We have nothing to lose. We have no families, no children, no houses. Woz had an old car. You know, I had a Volkswagen van. I mean, all we were going to lose is our cars and the shirts off our back. We had nothing to lose, and we had everything to gain. And we figured, even if we crash and burn and lose everything, the experience will have been worth 10 times the cost.
