In today’s newsletter, we have a hands-on review of the brand-new M4 iPad Pro — the iPad that everyone wants (even if they pretend not to).
The tablet is reviewed by Ed Hardy, a longtime Cult of Mac writer who uses an iPad full-time as his main computer, and has done so for many years. When it comes to actually working on an iPad, Ed knows whereof he speaks.
As part of the review, he talked to Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, to get his opinion on why the iPad’s new double OLED display looks so good.
Plus, Ed gets into why the new iPad needs such a high-end chip. Read his expert M4 iPad Pro review for the full scoop.
Also in today’s newsletter:
New colors may be coming to this year’s iPhone lineup.
It sounds like Siri may finally get a decent upgrade in the smarts department in the upcoming iOS 18 — which we discuss on this week’s fun episode of The CultCast podcast.
Most of the calls I get these days are spam calls. Incogni is a state-of-the-art data-erasure service that combats spam calls, and it’s 55% off only for Cult of Mac readers with this code: Apple55.
New sci-fi show Dark Matter is the most popular series not just on Apple TV+, but on any streaming service.
Ed’s a busy man. He also reviewed OtterBox’s Cactus Leather iPhone case. It’s made from a plant-based alternative to traditional cow leather, and it’s a great, renewable choice.

A message from Incogni
Tired of constantly battling iPhone spam calls? Here's how to make them disappear.
Every day, your personal data, including your phone number, is sold to the highest bidder by data brokers. This results in annoying robocalls from random companies, and worse, makes you vulnerable to scammers and stalkers. Meet Incogni: It actively removes your personal data from the web, fights data brokers, and protects your privacy. Incogni also removes your information from “people search” sites, where anyone can access your personal information from the web.
Incogni protects you from identity theft, spam calls, raised health insurance rates and more. Only for Cult of Mac readers: Get 55% off the annual plan using promo code Apple55.

Got to try out the new CarPlay with support for gauge cluster second display and I quite like it! Very useful to have turn by turn right in front of the driver

RIP to all those wallpapers that Apple straight up killed with iPadOS 17 🤡 all those dynamic dark/light mode wallpapers are just GONE for absolutely nothing.

One more thing ...
I used to be way over on the nurture side, but I've swung way over to the nature side. And it's because of Mona and having kids. My daughter is 14 months old, and it's already pretty clear what her personality is.
