iPhone 16 event invite leaks

Apple's next event pegged for September 10.

The wait is nearly over. Apple reportedly will introduce the iPhone 16 on September 10, about three weeks away.

The new handset lineup will bring some exciting new features, plus a new bronze color.

That’s if a leaked invite proves genuine.

It certainly looks so, although it’d be unprecedented for such a sensitive document to leak out of Apple.

In the 30-plus years I’ve been following the company, I don’t recall a leak like this. Leaks usually come from the supply chain or third parties, not inside Apple itself.

If it’s the real deal, Tim Cook must be fuming — and probably already ordered an investigation. The leaker is likely trembling, unless they took extraordinary efforts to cover their tracks.

Also in today’s newsletter:

  • Apple should ditch the Ultra Wide camera in its iPhone lineup. Why? It’s unnecessary, like umbrellas for your shoes. (Take our poll below to tell us what you think.)

  • It hurts my fingers to even look at the insane split keyboard in today’s featured Mac setup, but its owner swears by the alien-looking input device.

  • I loved the iPhone mini and miss it every day. If Apple still offered it, it would be my iPhone of choice. This teeny smartphone is even smaller, and it’s almost half off at just $110.

  • Safari on iPhone receives a big redesign in iOS 18. Here’s how to use everything that’s new, including the better Page Menu and quick ways to see highlights of a webpage.

One more thing ...

Some companies view manufacturing as a necessary evil, and some view it as something more neutral. But we view it instead as a tremendous opportunity to gain a competitive advantage. [I've thought that] ever since I visited Japan in the early '80s. And let me add that the same is true of sales and marketing. You need a sales and marketing organization that is oriented toward educating customers rather than just taking orders, providing a real service rather than moving boxes. This is extremely important.
