Be careful what you wish for. An always-on display for the iPhone sounds super-cool, but it may come with costs.

When Apple introduced an always-on display with the Apple Watch Series 5, I leapt on it -- as did many other people.

It seemed like the coolest feature. But as time has gone on, I've disabled the always-on screen in order to get more juice from the battery.

Now, instead of charging my watch every day, I can go 36 to 48 hours between charges.

Of course, the iPhone has a bigger battery, so an always-on screen might not be as big a power-killer as it is with Apple Watch. But then the iPhone's screen is bigger, too!

Even so, an always-on iPhone screen sounds like a great feature, if it doesn't kill your battery.
