iPhone 13 review roundup: Most incremental ever?

Every year for the past few years, reviews of the latest iPhones have largely said the same thing: This year's phones are great, but are an incremental upgrade. If you have an older iPhone, you'll be delighted. But if you have a recent handset, skip it.

And so it goes with many of this year's reviews of the iPhone 13.

But then you come across a line like this in The Verge's review:

Apple’s marketing for the camera system on the 13 Pro is that it’s the “biggest advancement ever.” I don’t know that I would go that far, but I also can’t remember the last time I’ve said “whoa, look at this photo” as many times as I have during this review.

And it speaks to the larger truth: The new iPhones may be incremental, but those increments add up to something special.

Apple seeded the first beta of iOS 15.1 to developers Tuesday, just a day after the general public got access to iOS 15. It's expected to include some of the features promised earlier but removed to give additional development time.

Woot's insane sale on iPhone refurbs has returned for one day only. Treat yourself to an upgrade for as little as $169.99.

A dreary and ominous fog washes over the first trailer for The Tragedy of Macbeth. That sets a suitably dark tone for the adaptation of the bloody Shakespeare classic from writer and director Joel Cohen.

Given all the apocalyptic storytelling in recent years, it makes sense in a Hollywood way that we’d eventually arrive at a warm-and-fuzzy, feel-good apocalypse movie. That would be Finch, set to premiere November 5 on Apple TV+.
