iOS 15 adoption is sluggish

I'm the kind of person who loves a good update. I find it super-satisfying to update the software of all my gadgets to the latest version.

But it seems not everyone shares my enthusiasm.

According to analytics firm Mixpanel, a much smaller percentage of iPhone users have updated to iOS 15 as compared to iOS 14 a year ago.

The reasons are unclear -- and there are several possible explanations.

Still, Apple can congratulate itself on one thing -- Android update rates are way, way worse!

In the three months since iOS 15 launched, 65% of iPhone users have installed it. That’s well below the percentage of users who’d installed iOS 14 the same amount of time after its debut in 2020. There are several possible reasons why the iOS 15 adoption rate might be slower than that of its predecessor.

The bug mostly appears to affect Apple Watch Series 7 and third-party charging accessories from a range of brands. However, some users have reported similar problems with older Apple Watch models. There is a temporary fix if you need it.
