Insanely exciting
iOS 19 promises some very big changes.
We’re just over two weeks away from WWDC, and I’m more excited than usual about Apple’s annual developer conference.
That’s because iOS 19 promises some big design changes — the biggest, reportedly, since Apple dropped iOS 7 way back in 2013.
The new design reportedly will feature a ton of intriguing tweaks, from new icons to shimmery motion effects.
Overall, iOS will more closely resemble visionOS, with a glassier look and more transparency (which Apple’s already hinting at in its WWDC posters).
But there’s one rumored feature of iOS 19 that has me particularly excited: the ability to connect your iPhone to an external monitor and bring up a macOS-lite interface.
It sounds like CarPlay for your desktop. And when my iPhone packs more punch than an aging iMac I’m still using, it sounds like I’ll be getting a cheap new computer basically for free.
But that’s only one new feature among many. Check out our post — there’s a bunch of crazy stuff coming!

President Donald Trump had a nice surprise for Tim Cook this morning: new 25% tariffs on iPhones unless Apple immediately shifts its enormous and intricate supply chain to the United States. It’s all very reasonable and well thought out. I’m sure Cook will get it done by next week.
Wow. If only my own setup looked like this instead of a dingy, rodent-infested basement. The view of Hawaii ain’t bad, either.

I’m not a huge fan of Guy Ritchie’s films, but most of them have their moments. His new Indiana Jones/National Treasure knockoff Fountain of Youth looks fun(ish). It just hit Apple TV+ to stream for free. Check out the trailers in our post about the movie. I might watch it this holiday weekend if I get drunk enough.

I think it would be more like the mix of homepod mini and apple watch, but much more portable, with ability to wear it as you see fit: as a pendant, as a watch, on a lanyard, or just standalone.

One more thing ...
I don't think it's good that Apple's perceived as different. I think it's important that Apple's perceived as much better. If being different is essential to doing that, then we have to do that, but if we can be much better without being different, that'd be fine with me. I want to be much better.
