HomePod 2 teardown surprises
A hidden heatsink is one of the bigger shockers.
The veritable repair gurus at iFixit tore down the new HomePod 2 smart speaker and found some interesting things.
Firstly, it’s a lot easier to get into than the original HomePod. Screws have replaced glue in some places.
The new version also packs a big internal heatsink. Why? The best guess is to minimize audio distortion if the speaker ever heats up.

And remember, though the outside world looks at success from a numerical point of view, my yardstick might be quite different than that. My yardstick may be how every computer that's designed from here on out will have to be at least as good as a Macintosh.
