I bought a $4 cookie jar at a thrift store the other day, and I’ve been wracked with guilt and regret.

Since I just gave up cookies, a new cookie jar is the last thing I need.

Plus, we already have a perfectly good cookie jar. Yes, admittedly, it doesn’t have a cool chrome finish like the new one, but now we’ve got two bulky containers — both mockingly empty — instead of just one.

I’m trying very hard to be mindful about new purchases, and to resist the temptation to constantly buy new stuff.

So I read with great interest this piece from Cult of Mac contributor Graham Bower about why he just bought a Vision Pro headset.

Like a new chrome-covered cookie jar, a new Vision Pro headset seems like the last thing he needs, especially as the headset appears to be teetering on the edge of cancellation.

But Graham bought it knowing this full well.

The Vision Pro reminds Graham of Apple in the late 1990s, when only true believers supported the company. And the supposed failure of the product actually provides a golden opportunity, which he intends to capitalize on. Trust me, it’s a good read.
