First states to adopt driver’s licenses and IDs in Apple Wallet

There's some consternation online about Apple's initiate to add digital driver's licenses and IDs to Apple Wallet.

Folks are saying there's no way they'd hand cops their unlocked phones during a traffic stop, and have the officer take their phone back to their cruiser for verification.

But the system as designed will not require that, and has other clever, safety-and-privacy protections built in.

Personally, I can't wait. It's another step toward replacing my wallet and keys with digital equivalents. It won't be long now before all you need to leave home is just your iPhone.

Apple on Wednesday confirmed the first states that will adopt digital driver’s licenses and IDs in Apple Wallet. Residents of Arizona and Georgia will be able to take advantage of the feature first, with six other states to follow.
