First Apple employees form union
Employees at Apple's retail store in Towson, Maryland – a Baltimore suburb – are the first to form a union.
The workers voted overwhelmingly to form the Coalition of Organized Retail Employees (CORE -- get it?) and join the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
They may soon be joined by staff at Apple's stores in New York’s Grand Central Terminal and World Trade Center, among others.
The unionization efforts are part of a national trend among retail and warehouse workers to organize, joining staff at Amazon and Starbucks in forming unions.
Even though Cupertino reportedly is fighting the effort, this will by no means be the last Apple store to unionize.
It'll be interesting to see which stores are next.

Employees at an Apple store in Maryland have made it the first of any of the Mac-maker’s retail locations to vote in favor of joining a union. Several other such stores are preparing to hold their own votes. Meanwhile, Apple is trying to discourage any efforts by its employees to unionize.
It's still in Apple’s product lineup but you should avoid it. Apple Watch Series 3 is so near the end of its life that it’s not a good value, even at $199. But there’s another Apple wearable that costs just a bit more and isn’t about to ride off into the sunset.
Apple’s launch into item trackers has been a success, according to an analyst. The company has sold millions of AirTags, and the number is expected to grow 75% this year. Still, the Bluetooth tracker has generated controversy since it came on the market in 2021.
Apple successfully created an extended video advertisement that people want to watch. Escape From the Office made it on YouTube’s own most most popular global ads of the past year. It’s about a group that sets out to create a small business after ditching corporate life. They use Apple products, of course, but that’s not truly the focus.
Macs are famously easy to use, but great apps make them even easier. The right apps can boost productivity, too. Here are six great Mac apps. The list covers some of our favorite apps to install on a new Mac. Some are free in the App Store, others you can download from developers’ websites.

Shopping for an iPad can be overwhelming. Apple sells five iPad models in a wide range of sizes and capabilities. Each tablet has its strengths and weaknesses. You don’t want to get one that doesn’t have all the features you want, but you also don’t want to pay too much for features you won’t use.
On June 20, 1994, Apple launched eWorld, an online service for Mac owners that was designed to compete with AOL and similar properties.
Epic OLED smart TV and pro audio gear distract from wrong-color keyboard [Setups] — www.cultofmac.com
Will you rue the day you choose the wrong color peripherals? Will you ask strangers on social media to help you fix the problem? The owner of today’s striking M1 MacBook Air-based setup did just that. But if you ask us, they could take solace in the setup’s strengths. Those include an epic OLED smart TV and some top-shelf, professional-level audio gear, plus a cool Edison desk lamp. But we’ll share some good advice we saw about the keyboard issue.

I'm hopeful that today we'll get second developer betas for iOS 16, macOS Ventura, iPadOS 16, etc. It's been two seeks since the first round, the usual turn-around time for second betas.
On the other hand, Apple likes to release betas on Tuesdays. 🤷🏻♂️

One more thing ...
"That's the moment that an artist really decides who he or she is. If they keep on risking failure, they're still artists. Dylan and Picasso were always risking failure. This Apple thing is that way for me. I don't want to fail, of course. But even though I didn't know how bad things really were, I still had a lot to think about before I said yes. I had to consider the implications for Pixar, for my family, for my reputation. I decided that I didn't really care, because this is what I want to do. If I try my best and fail, well, I tried my best. What makes you become conservative is realizing that you have something to lose. Remember The Whole Earth Catalog? The last edition had a photo on the back cover of a remote country road you might find yourself on while hitchhiking up to Oregon. It was a beautiful shot, and it had a caption that really grabbed me. It said: 'Stay hungry. Stay foolish.' It wasn't an ad for anything--just one of Stewart Brand's profound statements. It's wisdom. 'Stay hungry. Stay foolish.'" -- Steve Jobs
