Finally, iPadOS gets it right
Hands on with the iPad's new Windowed Apps system: 👍👍👍
I liked the idea of Stage Manager and split-screen multitasking on iPad, but my god, could Apple have made it any more complicated?
When it first launched, Stage Manager proved completely unintuitive and frustrating to use. Yeah, I know, I probably could have learned to use it, but who’s got time for that?
Now Apple has rolled out a far better system for iPad multitasking called Windowed Apps.
If it sounds familiar, it should be: It’s basically macOS on iPad.
Our resident iPad expert, Ed Hardy, who’s been using an iPad Pro as his main machine for years, put the new system through its paces.
The funny thing is, even though he likes Windowed Apps, he’s still going to keep using Stage Manager — and for very good reason.
I’m really looking forward to using Windowed Apps myself. If only I could use my old Intel iMac as an external monitor, especially now that its days are numbered. Anyone got any ideas?

Don’t miss the new “haptic” trailer for Apple’s upcoming F1 movie starring Brad Pitt. The trailer uses your iPhone’s Taptic Engine to let you “feel” the racing action. I can think of some other NSFW uses for this tech!
Talking of NSFW, we have a great deal on a naughty AI image generator that looks kinda fun.
As you’d expect, the trailer for the upcoming third season of Foundation is epic. Thank goodness actor Lee Pace is back.
The first iOS 26 developer beta contains references to AirPods Pro 3, suggesting the next-gen earbuds might be right around the corner.
Logitech’s new Flip Folio for iPad looks like a great accessory, especially for work, thanks to its magnetically attached keyboard.
Wow, this high-end setup with three big 4K monitors is driven by a humble MacBook Air.

Couldn’t attend #WWDC25 in person? No problem I got you 😉
Here’s some pano images I shot at Apple Park while working on campus. If you have an AVP/Meta Quest etc, it really gives you a sense of what it feels like to be there. Full res files linked 👇

One more thing ...
(After seeing a newborn calf immediately walking) It was not something she had learned, but it was instead hardwired into her. A human baby couldn’t do that. I found it remarkable, even though no one else did. It was as if something in the animal’s body and in its brain had been engineered to work together instantly rather than being learned.
