Elon Musk teases a Twitter phone

Elon Musk on Monday tweeted that Apple isn't advertising very much on the new Twitter under his management -- and that the company may boot the Twitter app from the App Store.

Reasons weren't given, but it's likely that Apple is frowning on the new "free speech" Twitter that Musk is proposing that downplays moderation. Apple booted the Parler app over concerns about its content-moderation practices (but later let it back in).

In response, Musk is floating the idea of building his own smartphone, but this path is fraught: Remember the Facebook phone? What about Amazon's Fire Phone?

If Apple does remove Twitter from the App Store, it'll be bad news for Musk, but you can essentially roll your own Twitter app by opening Twitter in Safari and hitting "Add to Home Screen" in the share sheet.

Twitter will continue to function much the same, and you'll get a Twitter icon on your iPhone or iPad Home screen.

Elon Musk says he’ll release a phone that competes with iPhone and Android if he has to. The owner of Twitter might be forced to make a handset if Apple and Google ban the social network from their software stores. Such a ban is possible, as both companies have policies that block apps that spread hate speech or calls for violence.

Chaos at a Foxconn plant in China where the two iPhone 14 Pro models are assembled reportedly will cut deeply into the supply of these handsets. Millions of units that would have been produced in 2022 without the protests supposedly now will not be.

The Cult of Mac Store added massive discounts over the weekend for Cyber Monday. Not only can you get a whopping 40% off SwitchEasy iPhone 12 series cases and accessories, but you also can take 30% off a whole lineup of other great SwitchEasy gear.

The new app takes advantage of Apple Watch Ultra’s depth gauge and water temperature sensors to provide divers with crucial information on forays up to 130 feet beneath the water's surface.

You can access all your online Apple services from any computer, tablet or phone. This includes Find My, Mail, Photos, Files, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Notes, Calendar and Reminders. It’s really convenient if you need to find a lost device, print a file or download a picture from a different computer you’re not signed into.

On November 28, 2001, Apple revealed that its QuickTime 5 program was being downloaded for Mac and PC a million times every three days.

Getting great new gear for your computer setup has more than just the obvious benefit of awesomeness. "Apple's problem has been a lack of execution; a lack of management. It's just the basic stuff! I think the basics are getting put in place, and that's filtering down through this organization, and I think the results are starting to happen already." - Steve Jobs, WWDC, 1997.
