Download the betas

If you dare!

My goodness, you’d think from the online invective that Tim Cook murdered babies during yesterday’s WWDC opening keynote.

The hot takes are flying thick and fast, and the hatred for the new Liquid Glass UI far outweighs the celebratory posts.

People who like the new UI seem to number in the dozens, and even that may be an exaggeration.

But count me among them. As promised, I downloaded the various betas on all my primary devices. So far, I’m loving all of them.

I know it’s a cliche, but my iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch really do feel like new devices (at least they did for a few minutes while I got used to the new look and feel).

The betas are a bit buggy, but perfectly usable, for me anyway.

The legibility problems that many are complaining about are overblown, and I like very much the redesigns of key apps, like the Camera and Phone apps, which are easier to use than the old designs.

So if you’re a reckless fool like me, here’s how to make your iPhone unusable for the next few months.

Design is the fundamental soul of a man-made creation that ends up expressing itself in successive outer layers.
