So cool! Say Hello to Universal Control
Apple today released Universal Control to the public. First shown off at WWDC about a year ago, Universal Control lets you control a Mac and an iPad with a single keyboard and mouse. It also works with two Macs.
It’s super handy if you have several macOS and iPadOS machines and regularly switch between them.
"We firmly believe it is one of Cupertino’s most magical features to date," we said in a review. "Here’s why Universal Control will knock your socks off."
In other news:
Apple also released iOS 15.4, which allows iPhone users to unlock Face ID while wearing a mask. (just in time for the BA.2 Omicron subvariant)
The first iPhone SE reviews are in, and it's a winner.
If you're thinking of jumping to WiFi 6, there's an inexpensive new router you should check out.

macOS Monterey 12.3 brings Apple’s long-awaited Universal Control to Mac and iPad — www.cultofmac.com
Apple released macOS Monterey 12.3 and iPadOS 15.4 on Monday. The signature feature in macOS Monterey is Universal Control. As Apple noted, this enables a single keyboard and mouse to control both a Mac and an iPad, or two Macs, allowing you to easily jump between them. It’s a feature Apple promised at WWDC in June 2021 and is just now delivering. Don’t miss the Cult of Mac preliminary review of Universal Control.
iOS 15.4 debuted on Monday, allowing users to unlock their iPhone with Face ID while wearing a mask. It also includes other new features. The most notable new feature is the option to unlock an iPhone with Face ID while wearing a mask — no Apple Watch necessary. In addition, there’s a fresh crop of emoji.
With less than a week to go until Apple’s third-generation iPhone SE makes its official debut, the first reviews are out. They have plenty of great things to say about Cupertino’s most affordable handset — and more than a few complaints.
Early benchmark scores for the soon-to-be-released iPad Air 5 show the tablet has approximately the same performance as the iPad Pro models that cost much more.
With so many employees working via smartphones, tablets and laptops from practically anywhere, MDM is crucial. Scalefusion makes it easy.
Wi-Fi 6 is the latest version of the wireless networking standard we all love. It’s so much better than its predecessor you should think about upgrading your router just to get it. Especially because the change won‘t be as expensive as you might expect because the Rock Space AX1800 WiFi 6 Router is just $80.
Foxconn, Apple’s largest manufacturing partner, was this weekend forced to close one its biggest plants due to a citywide lockdown. Another COVID-19 outbreak has put all of Shenzhen, China, out of action until March 20 at the earliest.
The basic iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will launch this fall with the same A15 processor as the 2021 models, according to a reliable tipster. Supposedly, only the pricier iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will sport a new A16 chip. If true, it’ll be a move Apple has never used before.
College students, often not exactly made of money, usually feel obliged to be super-thrifty. Their setups might feature entry-level gear, hand-me-down equipment, doors on cinderblocks serving as desks — that sort of thing. But today’s featured setup, owned by a college student, comes with some frills. They’re courtesy of a lucrative internship the computer science major completed last summer.

"We do no market research. We don't hire consultants. The only consultants I've ever hired in my 10 years is one firm to analyze Gateway's retail strategy so I would not make some of the same mistakes they made [when launching Apple's retail stores]. But we never hire consultants, per se. We just want to make great products." -- Steve Jobs.
