Does anyone else feel kinda underwhelmed by the new, smarter Siri shown off during this morning’s WWDC26 keynote?

Perhaps it was the noticeable, sometimes long, processing delays as the newly named “Siri AI” ground through various tasks. (You gotta give Apple props, though, for not using misleading edits.)

Or maybe it was because half the time I wondered to myself, “Wait, isn’t Siri already supposed to do that?”

Or maybe it was the tasks themselves: Siri AI can now create a reminder when concert tickets become available — whoop-dee-doo!

The disappointment stems from my own unrealistic expectations. I was half-hoping Apple would show off an autonomous AI agent that could arrange and book an entire two-week European vacation. Not a somewhat smarter Siri with a standalone app.

But as Apple software chief Craig Federighi said during the presentation, the company is trying to keep AI grounded.

Apple is trying to make AI that’s safe, private and personal.

We’ll see in the coming weeks, as beta testers try the new system, whether Tim Cook and Co. delivered.

Meantime, here are the highlights of this morning’s WWDC presentation:

  • Here’s your first official look at iOS 27, which is a far more consequential update than the bug-fix that was rumored.

  • It’s genuinely impressive that Apple’s new operating systems support such a wide range of older devices. But which ones make the cut?

Deciding what not to do is as important as deciding what to do. That's true for companies, and it's true for products.
