Brick your Mac too!

How to make your Mac completely unusable

You guys (and girls) are a cautious lot.

Unlike the lunatics here at Cult of Mac, almost none of the readers of this newsletter are installing the public beta of iOS 26, according to the results of yesterday’s poll (see below).

Hundreds of you voted, but only a handful said you’re going to be running Apple’s test software.

The vast majority said you’ll wait until the official release in the fall. Frankly, I was a bit surprised by the results: I thought at least some of you guys were a lot more impulsive!

Perhaps you’re less cautious when it comes to your Mac? Because Apple also launched a public beta for macOS Tahoe (which I’m also running and think looks just gorgeous).

LOL. Just kidding.

Maybe you’re less concerned about secondary devices like your iPad or Apple Watch, ‘cos there’s betas for those too.

Also in today’s newsletter:

  • Good news for fans of Blender, the super-popular open-source 3D rendering app: It’s coming to iPad, and it’ll be the full version.

  • The best deal in computing by far is the latest M4 Mac mini, which delivers insane performance at a budget price — which is now even more budgety!

  • We continue to tinker with the Cult of Mac podcast, and this week our guest Graham Bower had some great thoughts about the upcoming folding iPhone; while Griffin gave a great demo of the new features in the latest iOS 26 beta 4. Check out the video, or listen on the Podcasts app. Please comment on YouTube or send us a question for next week’s show.

  • What? There’s a season 4 of Acapulco, a show I didn’t think anyone watches but clearly people do? Is it any good? Take the poll below.

One more thing ...

Well, my favorite things in life are books, sushi and.... My favorite things in life don't cost any money. It's really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time.
