More boring Apple environmental news

Apple green blah blah blah ...

Everyone seems to find Apple’s green initiatives extremely boring. Every time we write about it, no one clicks on the posts!

But I think such efforts are important and impressive. So does Apple. The company is devoting the top of its homepage to an environmental progress report ahead of Earth Day on April 22.

The report offers a deep dive into the company’s efforts, which range from low-carbon shipping to renewable energy. Apple’s goal is to be completely carbon neutral across its entire business by 2030 — just seven years away.

Take the use of recycled materials, which has grown from using some recycled plastic in its desktop computers in 2017, to the use of a half-dozen recycled materials across its entire product line in 2023.

The chart shows slow, incremental progress. It may seem like small beans now, but will likely be dramatically different in a few years.

As Lisa Jackson, Apple’s VP of environment, policy and social initiatives, said in a statement: “Apple is on a journey…. We hope you’ll join us.”

One more thing ...

The most powerful person in the world is the storyteller. The storyteller sets the vision, values and agenda of an entire generation that is to come.
