Beta 3: What's new?
All the changes in the latest iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 betas.
Everyone was expecting — or more accurately, hoping — that the new iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 betas would include some Apple Intelligence.
Alas, the betas do not.
There’s no sign of the new Siri or any of the other AI features that Apple touted at WWDC24 last month.
Nonetheless, there are some nice new tweaks and fixes in the latest downloads: We put together a roundup of what’s new.
Also in today’s newsletter:
Say what? Microsoft is mandating employees use iPhones?
I already have more headphones and earbuds than I can possibly use, but I’m really tempted by this great deal on the new Beats Studio Buds+, which includes the hot transparent ones for just $99.
Check In is one of those iOS features that really everyone should know.
If you ever wanted to rotate your giant flatscreen TV into portrait orientation — it’s the best to watch TikTok on TV! — have we got a deal for you!
AirDrop is one of Apple’s great innovations, but sometimes it doesn’t work for reasons that aren’t obvious: Here’s how to fix that.
Apple Arcade continues to expand with new and classic games, including the popular Temple Run: Legends.

(On whether he thinks it's unfair calling people in Silicon Valley “nerds”) Of course. I think it's an antiquated notion. There were people in the '60s who were like that and even in the early '70s, but now they're not that way. Now they're the people who would have been poets had they lived in the '60s. And they're looking at computers as their medium of expression rather than language, rather than being a mathematician and using mathematics, rather than, you know, writing social theories.
