Avoid base model M2 MacBook Air

The new MacBook Air is the rare product that seems to be getting almost universally rave reviews.

Reviewers are having a hard time finding fault with the light, fast, good-looking machine.

But there is a fly in the ointment: The base model may be slower than its M1 predecessor for some tasks, and we advise avoiding it.

Those in the market for the hot new laptop should be aware that the base model with 256GB of storage reportedly suffers from slow performance when moving large files and multitasking. Apple says real-world performance isn’t affected, but benchmarks show the base model is slower even than its M1 predecessor for some tasks.

Apple Music Sessions are newly recorded live tracks and videos available only on Apple’s streaming service. The recordings will be from current stars and emerging artists, starting off in Nashville with Carrie Underwood and Tenille Townes.
