Apple's in hot water again
Another controversial ad puts Cupertino on the back foot.
Apple is in trouble again for an insensitive ad.
In June, Apple was raked over the coals for an advertisement that showed a heap of creative tools like a piano and paint brushes being compacted into an iPad by a hydraulic press.
The ad upset a lot of Apple’s core users — creatives — who saw it as an unsubtle analogy for Silicon Valley and AI crushing human creativity.
Now Apple is in trouble for its latest ad, called OOO (Out of Office).
Set in Thailand and starring the Underdogs, the ad offended a lot of Thais — causing Apple to pull it. You can watch the whole thing in our post about the controversy.

Apple Intelligence might be coming to the EU after all (and maybe China, too).
Apple returned to growth last quarter. Strong iPad sales and services revenue boosted Cupertino’s bottom line.
At this point, owning a multi-device MagSafe charging stand is almost obligatory for us Apple users — and we have a 20% off sale on a pair of charging stands from SwitchEasy that both feature built-in ambiance lights.
We went hands-on with a magnetic charging cable with a built-in power meter and swappable connectors for fast charging.

New iOS 18.1 bug unlocked. Thought I was having a stroke for a second when I couldn’t find the last digit of my phone number.

My favorite feature of iOS is the App Store’s auto-update functionality, which takes approximately five days after updates are released to actually perform its job. Well done!

One more thing ...
Because I had dropped out and didn't have to take the normal classes, I decided to take a calligraphy class…. I found it fascinating. None of this had even a hope of any practical application in my life. But 10 years later, when we were designing the first Macintosh computer, it all came back to me. And we designed it all into the Mac. It was the first computer with beautiful typography. If I had never dropped in on that single course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts. And since Windows just copied the Mac, it's likely that no personal computer would have them.
