Apple's got 2 gifts for you 🎁 🎁

With Christmas right around the corner, Cupertino's playing Santa Claus.

That's right -- Apple's got two gifts for you. One disappears soon, and the other you'll have to wait till Sunday to enjoy.

First the one with the expiration date: Free two-hour deliveries of certain last-minute gifts from Apple stores. (We mentioned this in yesterday's newsletter, but it bears repeating for all you perpetual procrastinators. Orders must be placed by noon on December 24.)

Secondly, Apple TV+ will release a truly marvelous short film Sunday called The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse. Our reviewer calls it "quite the Christmas miracle" -- it sounds like perfect fodder for family viewing over the holiday weekend.

Even better, you can watch this animated wonder even if you don't have a subscription to Apple's streaming video service. Just get in on the recently announced free two-month Apple TV+ trial and you can watch lots of great stuff.

Enjoy!

The A16 processor in the iPhone 14 Pro models isn’t as powerful as Apple first hoped. Engineers reportedly mucked up the original design of the GPU so much that the company was forced to use essentially the same design as its predecessor.

On December 23, 2005, Apple filed a patent application for its iconic "slide to unlock" gesture for the iPhone. It stands as a vivid testament to the company's ambitious plans for its secret smartphone project.

One more thing ...

"What drove me? I think most creative people want to express appreciation for being able to take advantage of the work that’s been done by others before us. I didn’t invent the language or mathematics I use. I make little of my own food, none of my own clothes. Everything I do depends on other members of our species and the shoulders that we stand on.

And lot of us want to contribute something back to our species and add something to the flow. It’s about trying to express something in the only way that most of us know how -- because we cannot write Bob Dylan songs or Tom Stoppard plays. We try to use the talents we do have to express our deep feelings, to show our appreciation of all the contributions that came before us, and to add something to that flow."Steve Jobs
