Apple VR/AR headset might offer real-world clarity

Its 4K screens might look so good that objects appear real.

At a trade show for the display industry last week, attendees got a peek at a 4K micro OLED panel for mixed-reality headsets.

XR nerd Brad Lynch peered through the display — and was stunned. The virtual objects he was looking at were shown in such clarity and detail, they appeared to be real.

“This 4K per eye display actually feels REAL,” he wrote on Twitter. “Holy crap, I’m already ruined.”

Similar 4K OLED panels are rumored to be included in Apple’s AR/VR headset, which is expected to make its public debut next week at WWDC23.

If Lynch’s experience is anything to go by, we’re all going to be ruined!

One more thing ...

There falls a shadow, as T. S. Eliot noted, between the conception and the creation. In the annals of innovation, new ideas are only part of the equation. Execution is just as important.
