Apple's tariff plan
Cupertino comes up with a clever scheme for blunting Trump's tariffs.
While President Donald Trump is playing 4D chess with his well-thought-out and clearly articulated tariff plan, poor dummies like Tim Cook are forced to reconfigure Apple’s enormous global supply chain on the fly.
Incredibly, that’s exactly what Cook managed to achieve in just a few short months.
As the tariffs start to bite, Apple is predicting a nearly $1 billion hit on this quarter’s business.
But will these charges raise prices? What’s the plan going forward?
Cook laid it out — as well as he could — during Thursday afternoon’s earnings call with Wall Street analysts. You might be surprised at what Apple has planned — it’s kinda incredible.

There’s a shockingly good sale on grade A refurbished Apple Watches at Amazon’s Woot! Hot deals include an Apple Watch Ultra for just $389.99 and a black stainless steel Apple Watch Series 7 for just $129.99. The sale includes some great deals on refurbished iPhones, too. But like they say: Don’t delay. This banger sale ends tonight.
After a lot of foot-dragging, Apple finally complied with a court order to amend in-app purchases. It’s likely going to lead to big changes to how we all pay for apps and services. Spotify already jumped on the changes.
If you have a nice big screen in your car, this inexpensive dongle will let you watch videos on it. Handy for speeding down the freeway (jk!).
Today’s the day in Apple history that Cupertino introduced the first Apple watch in 1995. Wait, what?

I actually love the App Store. It is arguably the greatest thing to happen to people who make software.
I'm hoping that this shock reforms, not destroys the App Store.
I'm still long App Store, long IAP, and long Apple.

The only interference Apple is currently allowed is a simple alert notifying the user they are going to the web. Amusingly, the endorsed design was an early iteration Apple considered before they went full on scare sheet.

Just finished repairing this M1 MacBook Air I got off eBay for around $60! This machine showed up in bad shape, with a drilled logic board and NANDs. I ended up having to swap the M1 SoC along with all paired components onto another board, but in the end I got a working machine!
