Apple should do smart glasses stat
Why Cupertino should release a Ray-Ban Meta glasses killer.
I saw a lot of people raving about their Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses last year.
Although the smart specs look like regular Ray-Ban eyewear, they are outfitted with Meta AI — a conversational assistant prompted by the phrase, “Hey Meta.”
The glasses can make calls, send texts, translate text on the fly, take pics and videos, and even livestream, allowing wearers to broadcast a mundane walk down the street.
In fact, it was just such a livestream posted to X that made me interested in the glasses — even though I’m very reluctant to use any product from Meta, thanks to the company’s data-mining instincts.
Nonetheless, the smart Ray-Bans demonstrate the potential of this product category. I think it’s clear that one day, smart glasses will be common. Here’s why Apple should get in the game now, not later.

I was bummed to hear about the passing of former President Jimmy Carter, who very obviously was a good and decent man. Apple dedicated its homepage to his memory today, and below I posted a couple of the best things I saw about him on X over the weekend. I love the idea of Carter shaking hands with everybody on every airplane he got on.
HomePod minis are great, but Creative’s similarly shaped Pebble Pro speakers give them a run for their money in today’s featured setup.
I was a bit surprised by the results of last week’s poll about the most-anticipated Apple products due in 2025. The top vote-getters weren’t what I was expecting at all. See below.

Every time Jimmy Carter flew Delta, he shook hands with each person on the plane. Because that's who he was. Someone who treated people as people.

Jimmy Carter‘s presidency is extraordinarily underrated. But this is a good time to tell my favorite personal story. I was an advisor to the Carter Baker commission on election reform. At one of the meetings, President Carter asked if I would have lunch with him. 1/

One more thing ...
See, one of the things you have to remember is that we started off with a very idealistic perspective — that doing something with the highest quality, doing it right the first time, would really be cheaper than having to go back and do it again. Ideas like that.
