Apple's most embarrassing leak?

Biggest leak since Gizmodo got the iPhone 4

Some people think Apple’s 14-inch MacBook Pro is not just Apple’s best laptop, but the best laptop ever made.

Apple is about to update the machine with its latest M4 chip — just a few months after rolling out the M3 version in July earlier this year.

That’s a very aggressive update. The M4 chip promises better AI performance and better battery life. The new machine is expected to be available at the beginning of November.

And it’s a screamer — if the latest leak is to be believed.

A Russian YouTuber claims to have tested the machine, and no, not a prototype — the actual consumer-ready version of the new laptop.

How they got hold of the unreleased laptop isn’t explained but if true, it’s a huge leak. I don’t remember a pre-release product leaking from Apple or its supply chain since Gizmodo got hold of an iPhone 4 in 2010.

If it’s true, its pretty embarrassing for Apple.

Another Apple leaker claims there are as many as 200 on the market (see the X post below). If so, we can probably expect a lot more YouTube videos about the 14-inch MacBook Pro between now and its official unveiling in November.

One more thing ...

Lasting companies know how to reinvent themselves. Hewlett-Packard had done that repeatedly; it started as an instrument company, then became a calculator company, then a computer company. Apple has been sidelined by Microsoft in the PC business. You've got to reinvent the company to do some other thing, like other consumer products or devices. You've got to be like a butterfly and have a metamorphosis.
