Apple 'Let Loose' event: Full coverage

New iPads, Magic Keyboard, Apple Pencil Pro and more.

Short and sweet, Apple’s “Let Loose” event introduced powerful new iPad Pros as well as the first supersize iPad Air.

While most of what was covered at today’s iPad-focused event had been leaked — including the “surprise” M4 Apple silicon chip upgrade — it’s always fun to see the show Cupertino puts on.

The new iPad Pro with the M4 chip looks like a monster. Apple showed the tablet performing incredibly complex video effects instantaneously. And the new screen, based on two OLED panels, is the best display technology currently available, according to Apple.

The M4 chip is a surprise release, coming just seven months after its predecessor. Apple is speeding up its chip launches considerably.

The new 13-inch iPad Air looks like a great device for folks who want a larger screen but don’t need the iPad Pro’s extra processing power. It’s based on the older M2 chip, which powered the previous generation of iPad Pro, so it’s got plenty of oomph.

The new Apple Pencil Pro gains a squeeze gesture and haptic feedback to rival high-end styluses that come with dedicated drawing tablets.

And the sleek new Magic Keyboard turns the new iPad into a part-time laptop with a bigger trackpad (and haptic feedback).

Apple also updated its pro video and music apps for the new hardware, adding multi-camera editing to Final Cut Pro and new audio tools to Logic Pro.

And for anyone on a budget, Apple dropped the price of the entry-level iPad by $100 to start at just $349.

It’s a lot. All the details are below.
