Apple hasn’t given up on making a do-it-all charger

Apple is reportedly still working on AirPower, a mat that will charge several Apple devices simultaneously.

But more interesting, Cupertino is also working on true wireless charging -- the kind that happens without plugging in any cables or making contact with a charging pad.

Instead, future devices will charge in your pocket or purse, or simply sitting on your kitchen countertop.

Sound unlikely? Already several companies are working on it. Next year, Seattle startup Ossia and French electronics company Archos will release a suite of gadgets that charge over the air using a wireless power transmitter that can be hidden in the ceiling or behind furniture.

The five gadgets include a smartwatch that can be worn day and night and needs never be plugged in to charge. It can be worn indefinitely and not run out of power.

Apple's been ruthlessly eliminating ports for years, and Lightning may be next.

Ever wonder what to do if you damage your laptop’s screen? If you have no insurance or warranty coverage, is it simply time to lay that laptop to rest? No. Not necessarily. The rest of that laptop’s body can be reanimated like the creature from Frankenstein — only more productive, as you would expect from a Mac whose time has not yet come.
