As a teenager, I used to listen to The Clash and other punk bands at ear-splitting volume on a pair of old Sony headphones.

Which is why I’m half-deaf now.

But I still love headphones. They’re like catnip to me.

I own nearly a dozen pairs, plus a similar number of earbuds. I feel guilty about the headphone hoarding, as I barely touch some of the cans in my collection, although I do try to rotate through them on the regular.

There are a lot of headphones I covet, and I have to pinch myself if I see them on sale. The last thing I need is more.

But boy, look at the details of these upcoming Beats headphones, which tick all my boxes. Unlike some audio snobs, I really like the bass-heavy sound profile of Beats, and I’d pick these up in a heartbeat if I didn’t already have an unhealthy hoard. There’s one key feature that might be missing, though.

P.S. What’s up with Apple leaks lately? This one’s particularly bad — almost no detail has been spared.

Also in today’s newsletter:

  • Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has a stellar record reporting Apple rumors, but I’m going to dismiss his latest one simply because I don’t like it. Please don’t be true.

  • I hate dogs, and especially my own dog. (People look at me like I’m a monster when I say this, but 🤷 I’m a cat person.) So I have no interest in this highly accurate GPS dog collar. See our hands-on review.

  • 🔥 DEAL OF THE DAY: An external screen can really pump up your productivity by doubling your MacBook's working space. And here's one at an amazingly low price: less than $60! #affiliate

  • I had no idea the Apple Card would become so central to my own spending when it launched seven years ago. I use it for almost everything these days — on my iPhone and Apple Watch, natch.

One more thing ...

The things you most regret in life are things you didn't do. What you really regret was never asking that girl to dance. In business, if I knew earlier what I know now, I'd have probably done some things a lot better than I did, but I also would've probably done some other things a lot worse. But so what? It's more important to be engaged in the present.
