2026: A big year for OLED

Apple will finally go big on OLED screens.

There are good reasons why the best and most expensive TVs on the market are OLED — it’s a truly impressive technology.

OLED, which stands for organic light-emitting diode, is way better than all of today’s competing screen technologies.

It offers unmatched brightness, contrast, color fidelity and response times. Plus, OLED screens are amazingly thin, lightweight and eco-friendly. They are even somewhat flexible.

OLED shines (literally) in all areas of comparison, except one: cost. OLED screens are pricey.

Apple uses OLED screens in some of its nicest gear, namely iPhone, Apple Watch and the recently launched M4 iPad Pro.

But that’s about to expand. Apple is poised to use OLED across a much wider range of products. Here’s what to expect.
