Brought to you by Incogni, the easiest way to scrub your data from the internet.

I go for long bike rides most weekends and every. single. time. I get confounded by my bike computer, which DOESN’T have a touchscreen.

I go to tap something on-screen, nothing happens, and then I remember I’ve got to use the damn buttons on the side.

So I wonder what it’ll be like to use a MacBook with a touch-sensitive screen after 40 years or more of not having that capability.

Like a lot of people, I expect almost all screens these days to be touch-enabled (interactive ones, anyway). So perhaps it’ll be easy and seamless.

But do I want my Mac’s screen covered in greasy fingerprints? Won’t the lid bounce around if I’m poking at it? Will macOS look all weird and cartoony, with big fat touch buttons?

These are all questions to be answered — but the fact that a touchscreen Mac is coming is not, according to a leaker with contacts in the Asian supply chain who has proven to be reliable in the past. Plus, there are tantalizing new clues in the latest macOS beta, which, frankly, are even more compelling and believable.

  • I use Apple Maps a lot, and we all know it’s gone from the worst mapping app to one of the best. These upcoming features all look pretty great, especially the natural-language stuff.

  • Likewise, Apple’s Calendar app. It’s not exactly difficult to use right now, but natural-language support is a very welcome addition, and actually a necessity just to keep parity with competing calendar apps.

  • This is an oddity at first glance, but it actually makes perfect sense. I have a young relative who is hopelessly addicted to chatbots, and I can see this proving very handy in her case (although she’s definitely not going to like it).

  • BenQ has long made quality monitors at reasonable prices, and its latest screens compete with Apple’s pricey Studio Display for a lot less.
