There are only two machines in Apple’s current lineup that haven’t yet transitioned to Apple silicon: the 27-inch iMac and the Mac Pro.
Recent rumors suggested that while the Mac Pro will get a refresh this year, it’ll be updated with stinky old Intel chips: Apple was supposedly waiting on a more powerful, second-generation M2 chip for its flagship desktop.
But a reliable tipster now says the Mac Pro will indeed get Apple silicon this year, and it might be an insane “M1 Max Duo” chip that’s essentially two M1s fused together into a killer Frankenchip.
If so, it’s a clever way to bridge the gap between the M1 and M2 – and it’ll make for a beast of a machine.
