Apple's 'fix' for Studio Display underwhelms

I have one of Apple’s new and shiny Studio Display monitors. It cost a fortune. And while I generally love it, the speakers have been a pain since day one.
The speakers suffer from weird, unpredictable problems that are hard to categorize because they change and don’t occur on a predictable schedule.
Sometimes the speakers sound glitchy during playback. Often the volume is very low. And occasionally they don’t play at all.
Apple is aware of the problems and has a “fix,” according to a leaked internal document, but you’ll roll your eyes when you hear what it is.
